How To Fix CM 12 System UI Crash On Applying CM 11 Theme
https://enrepublic.blogspot.com/2015/01/how-to-fix-cm-12-system-ui-crash.html
If you're on the latest Cyanogenmod 12 nightly, you should have Cyanogenmod's theme engine. Since Lollipop is a complete overhaul so the theme engine required some tweaking as well. Even though Cyanogenmod's Clark Scheff informed of the incompatibility problem with CM 11 themes, I decided to give it a try.
To make it clear, I have purchased a couple of CM 11 themes, plus I thought that if a theme wasn't compatible it would give me a notification just as in Clark's post. So I went on and downloaded Merzee, which is a beautiful CM 11 theme. Guess what? It installed perfectly fine. So I set everything which it had to offer. Boom, my System UI kept crashing. If you aren't aware, the System UI crash is one the most annoying crashes, because you can't do anything other than trying to shutdown.

The Fix
- While in the state of continuous crashing, hold down the power button.
- The UI crash dialog box would draw over it. Hit OK, and then quickly hold the Power off option, that would give you the option to boot in safe mode.
- Now you should be in Safe mode. Go to setting. Then Apps and then find the theme that made your phone crash.
- Delete it.
- Hold down the power button and hit Reboot and your problem should be fixed.
