dbrand skin for Nexus 5 - Sunday Review

Smartphones are getting powerful every passing day. I'm sure a day will come when their computing power will surpass that of our PCs. Where they really lag behind is durability. I personally have never cracked my phone, but I'm always worried that I might end up doing so. This is why I used cases.
After its on the phone, it looks amazing. I went with mahogany wood because I really like the look of wood. At first, I was skeptical about applying the front piece on my Nexus 5. The reason was because it didn't look good in pictures I had seen. But after application, it looked gorgeous. I don't have any plans to take it off.

Cases are mostly bulky and ugly. Many of us don't like using them. The chances of the screen being cracked when a phone is dropped are fifty-fifty, unless it's a case built to stand punishment. So why use a case? To avoid scratches, that's what my friends told when I asked them. I think that its true, cases can protect our beloved smart phones from getting scratched.
This is where dbrand comes into place. It offers "premium skins". They sent me a kit, a week ago. I really enjoy using it. Below are some of the things, that I think make dbrand so appealing:
- The precision of the cutouts
- The texture
- The feel in hand
- Price
- Durability
- Customer care
- And most importantly: the looks.
The texture and the looks
The biggest question I had about dbrand was the skin's texture. I couldn't tell if it was flat or had some sort of texture. After holding it for a second, I could immediately tell that it had a definite texture. I don't know how to describe it here but there are very fine lines present on my mahogany wood skin which have very little depth in them. This gives it a really good feel in the hand. I've dragged my nails across the back a couple of times to feel the texture because it feels really good.

To give you an idea of the precision of the cutouts, I would give it a eleven out of ten. It is really precise. I tried my best to get a shot, depicting the precision of the skin. I think I succeeded. This type of precision is really important. If it wasn't there then it won’t have looked half as good as it looks now.
The same thing can be said for the front. The earpiece, camera and the sensors all have perfect cutouts; oh and the LED notification as well.
Durability is an interesting topic to discuss. Lets just say that the skin is super glued to your phone, which leaves no adhesive when removed. I can say this because I didn't put the camera lens piece correctly and I had to remove it. It was very difficult to do so, I even hurt my nail in the process. This is good if you want the skin to stay there as long as you want.

Customer care and the price
dbrand is unlike other companies. They have an amazing sense of humor and they interact with their fans everyday. I like this so much that I wish every other company could do the same.
