Thoughts on... Gotham episode 14
https://enrepublic.blogspot.com/2015/02/thoughts-on-gotham-episode-14.html
Hello reader. This is a new post "series" that I'm making so I can give my thoughts on anything related to movies/television/games. I'm mostly going to write about Tv shows. The Tv shows that are going to be reviewed each week are: Gotham, Forever, Marvel's Agent Carter, The Flash, Arrow and Constantine.
So, without further ado, here come my thoughts (with spoilers) on Gotham episode 12, "The Fearsome Dr. Crane".
The episode starts off with a murder by hanging, and the whole episode is about a serial-killer that kills people with their phobias. All the victims go to the same phobia support group, where the killer learns their phobias. You can deduce from the title and the episode that the killer is actually one of Batman's enemies, the Scarecrow, Dr. Jonathan Crane. There can also be some sort of new romantic interest from Harvey Bullock towards Scottie Mullens, a member of the support group who he saves at the end from drowning, so... maybe?
The episode also centers around the relantionship between Don Maroni and Oswald Cobblepot, the Penguin. After receiving a phone call from Fish Mooney saying that Cobblepot works for Falcone, Maroni starts getting suspicious. He takes Penguin to the woods, the suspicion rises and finally all is discovered, when Oswald tries to kill Maroni with a gun that had been replaced with blanks. Maroni immediately knocks him out and then tries to crush him to death in a scrapyard, unsuccessfully: Cobblepot flees and is later found by religious women that let him go to Gotham in their bus. Is this the start of a big Mob war?
There are also some bits that show Fish fleeing by boat, which is later boarded by people that appear to be pirates.

So, what did I think of the episode? Well, I like that they are including more and more villains, and Scarecrow is one of my favorites so that part was great, except maybe the fact that he is a dad. There was also some tidbits of romance between Leslie and Gordon that are an addition to the show and help distract from it's darker tone. Oh! Right. I almost forgot. Edward Nygma, a man that later will become the Riddler got suspended for examining corpses and not being the coroner. My favorite character later revenges by stuffing the coroner's locker with body parts, getting the man fired. Everything works out for Ed because he is unsuspended since the coroner no longer works there. Also, Bruce, since there was no more eyewitness and no evidence on his parents' case, decided to kick Commissi... sorry, Dectective Gordon of the case.
There was also some tidbits of romance between Leslie and Gordon that are an addition to the show and help distract from it's darker tone.
The verdict: 8/10
