Best Lollipop Rom For Nexus 5 And Nexus 6: Nexus Experience ROM

When it comes to Lollipop roms, options are quite limited at the current moment for Nexus users. At the time of writing this review, Cyanogenmod 12 still isn't out. On XDA Developers, Nexus 5 still has some choices when it comes to custom roms but move over to the Nexus 6, the options are very limited.

After careful testing of multiple roms on my Nexus 5, I've settled for Nexus Experience Rom.

I've tested multiple Lollipop roms including Cataclysm, Rastapop, Slim LP from XDA's original development threads and a few from XDA's development threads. Nexus Experience is simply the most feature rich rom which doesn't sacrifice performance at all.

No Rom is perfect but Nexus Experience is the closest. The features it offers simply make your everyday tasks easier: from a dedicated clear all recents button to LED charging indications. I've really enjoyed my time with this rom and it continues to get better with the updates

The main reason that I switched to using custom roms was Lollipop's performance on my Nexus 5. It wasn't good when I got the OTA 5.0 update. I did a factory reset but it didn't help. Switching to a custom fixed most of the problems I had.

Features

I love having a clear all button in my recents because it gets cluttered fast. Small additions like the quick unlock on correct entry of pin without having to press enter is amazing. Resizing the navigation bar should be a default feature.

As I mentioned earlier, the rom is feature rich, so its hard to mention each and every single feature in this review, instead I'm posting some screen shots of the customizations features available in this rom.

As you can tell from the screen shot, there's a lot to customize. Most of the features can help save your precious time.

Remember notification ticker from KitKat? Well, Google removed it in Lollipop. The developer of Nexus Experience decided to bring it back, its a welcome addition and I give props to the developer for it.

Wrap-Up

If you don't mind unlocking your boot loader and you're into taking your Android customization to the next level, definitely get this rom. If you're on another custom Lollipop rom and you don't feel like that you're missing out on some features than stick to your rom. Although if you want the best feature pack, make a backup and switch over.
